(Another) Medical Practice Shuttered After Ransomware Attack

It's hard to think of a worse outcome than losing a medical office to a cyber attack. Unfortunately, this has happened more than once this year.

The latest casualty is Wood Ranch Medical (WRM) in Simi Valley, California. The infection occurred in August, encrypting all patient data, including backups. Read that again - ALL patient data AND backups!

“As much as I have enjoyed providing medical care to you, I will not be able to attend to you professionally after that date," read a statement from WRM.

The attack so severely damaged the network, that "data recovery was not an option." Sadly, WRM plans to shut the practice at the end of the year.
