Ransomware Attack Takes Schools "Back in the Day"

Pittsburg Unified School District students and educators returning from the holidays found they were without internet access or email after a Ransomware attack on the District's network.

“We will be teaching and learning like ‘back in the day,’ without laptops and internet.” -Superintendent Janet Schulze

The good news is that the school is open while the network is repaired. The cost in time and resources is significant.

“We are continuing to investigate and work with a cyber-security team and experts.”

Cyber criminals heavily target schools and local governments. In fact, this attack was the second ransomware attack on a Contra Costa County system in the last week.

Cyber criminals keep getting better, so more organizations are turning to INFIMA's fully automated Cyber Security Training to keep their teams safe.
