The "Unsuccessful" Attack That Still Stings

It's two weeks since a vicious ransomware attack broke out at Louisiana's Office of Motor Vehicles. Many of the OMV's systems are still down.

"The ransomware attack – triggered by what officials suspect was an employee opening a sketchy link – hit several state servers including at the Office of Motor Vehicles."

Oddly, officials called the attack "largely unsuccessful." If that's the case, we'd hate to see the damage from a successful attack.

"Staffers worked through the weekend to restore services at the OMV offices, which run on a decades-old computer system that has complicated the process."

Cyber criminals are ravaging our local governments, and they will continue to exploit unsafe user behaviors in the network.
